How do I sign up?

Signing up for online banking is quick and easy! If you are already a member of the credit union, fill out the auto enrollment questions from the NetTeller login screen by clicking on click here to setup your new NetTeller ID. If you are not a member of the credit union simply come by any of our locations so you can open an account with us. We will assign you a temporary username and password that you will be asked to change when logging into the system.

That's it! Before you begin, add our online banking site as an exception to your popup blocker and make sure javascript and cookies are enabled on your browser.

First Time NetTeller User Information

If this is your first time logging into NetTeller, you will go through the following steps in order to complete the enrollment process:

1. Change your Password
Change your password making note of the instructions that appear at the top of the screen.

2. Choose a Personal Watermark Icon
This icon is a security feature that allows you to tell if the session is compromised. It should be the same EVERY time you login.

3. Answer 3 Security Challenge Questions
These security questions are used to verify your identity when suspicious activity occurs on your account. If something is suspicious, you will be prompted to answer one of these questions. If you answer it wrong 3 times, you will have to call our call center at 256-245-4776 during normal business hours to have yourself unblocked.

4. Enter/Update Email Address on File

These steps are necessary to help us maintain a high level of security on our online banking products.

After you complete the first-time login process, you will arrive on the Accounts summary page.

**Once you get to the Accounts summary page in NetTeller, be sure you remember to set your password reset questions under the "Settings" menu so you can utilize the password reset feature if needed.

Account Summary Screen

NetTeller offers an advanced account summary screen to easily see your account summaries and perform common tasks on your shares and loans.

  1. Here is the account summary main part of the screen. It organizes your accounts by Deposit Accounts, Loan Accounts, Investment Accounts, and Credit Cards. There is a full account summary overview at the bottom of the screen (not shown)
  2. With the 'Select Option' dropdown menu, you can easily click menu options for shortcuts to Transfer funds, Create Stop Payments, View Transaction History, Download Transaction History, and View the Share/Loan Information
  3. My Heritage is a 'widget' based page you can use as your home page. You can fully customize this page to show you the information you need and contain shortcuts to all of your most used functions.
  4. Bill Pay is now integrated into NetTeller. No more popups!
  5. Estatements can be easily accessed through NetTeller.

Protect Yourself Online

Our network and system security is only half of the battle, the other half falls on you to be sure you are taking the necessary precautions when online. If you would like to speak to someone at the credit union about online security, email our webmaster.

Ignore emails and text messages requesting personal account information
Heritage South will NEVER request account numbers, passwords, or any other personal account information via email. If you receive an email you believe to be fraudulent claiming to be from the credit union, please forward it to This will allow us to be aware of what is in the wild and alert other members if necessary.

Protect Your Computer
Always keep your computer's operating system (Windows, RedHat Linux, OS X, etc.) and internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, etc.) up to date with the latest security patches and updates. We recommend turning on automatic updates and automatic install features so you can be sure you are always protected.

Use Anti-Virus Software
Install and maintain antivirus software on your computer to ensure your system is protected from unwanted software. Like with your computer, turn on automatic updates and schedule a full scan at least weekly. Schedule the scan at a time when you are not using your computer so it doesn't interfere with your normal activities.

Log off and close your internet browser
When finished using Online Banking, "End Session" and close your browser so no further transactions can be processed against your account without logging in.

Be aware of your surroundings
Be very aware of your surroundings when using Online Banking. If you are in a public place, there can always be someone with a phone, over your shoulder, or in close proximity that may be trying to steal your passwords.

Choose passwords and DO NOT SHARE
Follow the password creation tips below to create more secure passwords. NEVER share your passwords with others, including credit union staff. We do not need your Online Banking password to service your account.

Password Safety

Keep your password confidential
Always keep your passwords confidential. You should NEVER share your passwords with anyone else, including credit union staff. Our staff can service your online banking account without knowing your password.

Create Secure Passwords
When possible, choose a mixture of 3 out of 4 the following criteria:

  • Capital Letters
  • Lowercase Letters
  • Numbers
  • Approved Symbols (usually !,@,#,$,%, etc.)

Other important items to note about choosing a secure password:

  • Use an 8-digit password or longer
  • Scramble a mnemonic that will be easy for you to remember
  • Use capital letters sporadically
  • Change your passwords frequently

Do NOT...

  • Do NOT choose the name of a child, pet, or spouse
  • Do NOT select dictionary words, they are easily cracked
  • Do NOT write it down and place it near or on your computer

What is NetTeller?
NetTeller is our online banking platform. You can access account information for your share and checking accounts, along with your loans and Heritage South VISA Credit Cards. Make payments, view transaction history, enroll for estatements and Bill Pay, transfer money and more!

Can I access NetTeller with my current online banking username and password?
Yes! You may use your old online banking username and password to log in the first time to the NetTeller system. IF your username is longer than 12 characters OR your password is longer than 10 characters, you will need to trim them down to the correct length when entering them to log into NetTeller the first time.

If you have trouble with your first-time login for NetTeller, please contact our Call Center during normal business hours at 256-245-4776.

Once you log into NetTeller, you will go through the first-time login process to complete your enrollment.

Can Bill Pay be accessed within NetTeller?
Yes, you can access Bill Pay from NetTeller if you have been enrolled for Online Bill Pay. If you have not been enrolled, then you may do so at any time by filling out the enrollment form from the Bill Pay page in NetTeller.

Can I change my email address online?
YES, you can change your email from inside NetTeller by going to the Personal Settings page. When you change your email address, it will send a notification to both the old and the new email addresses. If you receive a notification about an email address change you did not initiate, call the Call Center at 256-245-4776.

Is my NetTeller ID case sensitive?
NO. Your NetTeller ID is NOT case sensitive. Passwords ARE case sensitive and special characters can be used.

What are the minimum password requirements?

  • minimum length: 8 characters
  • maximum length: 10 characters
  • expire every 180 days
  • cannot reuse last 3 passwords
  • minimum of 3 alphabetic characters
  • these special characters are fine: !"#$%&()+,-/;<=>?[\]^_`{|}*"

Feel free to create more than one username for your account if more than one person (aka, spouse, child) is accessing the account through NetTeller. This will allow you to keep your passwords private and you can create individual settings for each username.

Why do I keep getting logged out?
NetTeller is set to automatically log you out after 10 minutes of inactivity. A popup appears to alert you and gives you the option to extend your session. Be sure your popup blocker is disabled for NetTeller so you will see the alert.

I clicked on eStatements and nothing happened. Why?
eStatements open in a new window. Turn off your popup blocker in order for eStatements to open in a new window.

Can I download my transaction history?
YES! Now you can download your transactions history in a variety of formats:

  • Microsoft Money (.ofx)
  • Intuit Quicken (.qfx)
  • Intuit Quickbooks (.qbo)
  • Intuit QuickBooks (.iif)
  • Standard Personal Finance (.qif)
  • Spreadsheet (.csv)
  • Word Processing (.txt)

How can I do a Stop Pay through NetTeller?

With the new NetTeller online banking platform, there are a couple of different ways to initiate the Stop Payment process.

  1. From the Accounts screen, use the 'Select Option' dropdown menu to select 'Stop Payments' from the list. You will be taken to the New Stop Payment screen.
  2. If you are on the transaction history page of a draft account, the 'Stop Payments' submenu will appear next to 'Transfers' below the main menu buttons.

* Stop Payments may be made ONLY on draft (checking) accounts through NetTeller. If for some reason you need a Stop Payment on a savings account, this must be done through the Call Center or by visiting a credit union branch to sign the form.
** Prestige Checking draft accounts are waived the Stop Payment fee therefore cannot be done through NetTeller. In that case, the Stop Payment must be done through the Call Center or by visiting a credit union branch to sign the form.

Why doesn't NetTeller work very well on my mobile phone?
NetTeller is not intended to work on your mobile device. If you need access to your accounts via mobile, download MobileTeller and use your same login credentials from NetTeller.

How much transaction history is available in NetTeller?
For each Share and Loan, NetTeller is currently set to return 500 items. This means that the history on a share with a high volume of activity may not go as far back by date if the 500 limit is reached. The 500 return limit can be raised on the system if enough members request us to do so.

Can I connect to NetTeller directly using or Quicken?
Direct connection using any 3rd party software application or online aggregator, like, is not officially supported.
Even though we do not officially support a direct connection, we know that Quicken or WILL download information from your NetTeller account if you supply the correct credentials and select the correct credit union.

Browser Requirements

The web browser you use is important in determining how you view and interact with a web page.

For the website

Our main website is optimized to work with all updated and recent versions of major browsers including Internet Explorer 7.0+, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, and Opera.

While we cannot guarantee that the website will display in all browsers due to the number of options out there, we strive to test a variety of browsers to ensure that at least basic functionality is maintained.

Javascript: Javascript is a client-side programming language for web browsers that can be used to enhance the functionality and appeal of a website making the user's experience more rewarding. Javascript is required to be on for many parts of this website in order to experience and view some special functionality. If javascript is turned off on your browser, please visit your browser's website to find instructions on how to enable javascript.

Cookies: Cookies may need to be enabled for advanced functionality and user tracking. Sensitive information is NEVER stored in cookies as it is viewable in plain text.


The Online Banking portion of our website requires a different subset of browser functionality and capabilities to work properly.

Our NetTeller online banking solution supports all major browsers and current releases of Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari (except for versions 5.1.4 or 5.1.5).

Javascript and Cookies: Javascript and cookies must be enabled for Online Banking to function correctly.

Popups: some links in NetTeller open in a new window via popup, i.e. eStatements. Check your Popup Blocker to allow popups from NetTeller if you experience any trouble opening eStatements.
