First Time Online Banking (Banno) User Information

1. Change your Password
Change your password making note of the instructions that appear at the top of the screen.
2. Choose a Personal Watermark Icon
This icon is a security feature that allows you to tell if the session is compromised. It should be the same EVERY time you login.

These security questions are used to verify your identity when suspicious activity occurs on your account. If something is suspicious, you will be prompted to answer one of these questions. If you answer it wrong 3 times, you will have to call our call center at 256-245-4776 during normal business hours to have yourself unblocked.

Protect Yourself Online
Our network and system security is only half of the battle, the other half falls on you to be sure you are taking the necessary precautions when online. If you would like to speak to someone at the credit union about online security, email our webmaster.
Ignore emails and text messages requesting personal account information
Heritage South will NEVER request account numbers, passwords, or any other personal account information via email. If you receive an email you believe to be fraudulent claiming to be from the credit union, please forward it to fraudalerts@myhscu.com. This will allow us to be aware of what is in the wild and alert other members if necessary.
Protect Your Computer
Always keep your computer's operating system (Windows, RedHat Linux, OS X, etc.) and internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, etc.) up to date with the latest security patches and updates. We recommend turning on automatic updates and automatic install features so you can be sure you are always protected.
Use Anti-Virus Software
Install and maintain antivirus software on your computer to ensure your system is protected from unwanted software. Like with your computer, turn on automatic updates and schedule a full scan at least weekly. Schedule the scan at a time when you are not using your computer so it doesn't interfere with your normal activities.
Log off and close your internet browser
When finished using Online Banking, "End Session" and close your browser so no further transactions can be processed against your account without logging in.
Be aware of your surroundings
Be very aware of your surroundings when using Online Banking. If you are in a public place, there can always be someone with a phone, over your shoulder, or in close proximity that may be trying to steal your passwords.
Choose passwords and DO NOT SHARE
Follow the password creation tips below to create more secure passwords. NEVER share your passwords with others, including credit union staff. We do not need your Online Banking password to service your account.
